I tried making my own antenna extend per the video, and pulled to cable out of the connector, and completely ruined my antenna! If you do this mod, be VERY careful!

You also mention using a cantenna. I have built several, and they work great! I went to your cantenna link, and the actual gain specs were a bit sketchy. I &lt;a&gt;build this cantenna&lt;/a&gt;, and it gave me 17 DBm of gain.
